The Team Lotus name has been brought back as a cover-all term for Lotus motorsport activity around the world. The marque’s motorsport activities and initiatives are now part of the global Team Lotus. Lotus sums it up this way: “The return of Team Lotus signifies our commitment to global competition and motorsport culture.”
Classic, national and international motorsport all come within the scope of the new Team Lotus umbrella. Said Gavan Kershaw, Director, Head of Motorsports at Lotus Cars: “Whether it’s GT, endurance, or grassroots competition, we’re committed to supporting teams and drivers who share our love for racing.”
Team Lotus starts its reintroduction with an expanding roster of partner teams and customers, with the Emira GT4 competing in numerous events throughout the forthcoming season. Mahiki Racing, competing in British GT4, is one of those high-profile partners. Mahiki Racing Team Manager Joe Osborne said: “Working directly with Lotus will be an honour and a great step forward for us at Mahiki Racing. Being linked with such a great manufacturer with so much history but also so much on the cards for the future is exactly what we want.”
The new incarnation of Team Lotus aims to shine a light on the marque’s illustrious Formula One history. A new livery has been created for the new identity, the bold yellow taking a dominant role where previously it was second to green.
