Lotus Emira updates bring in a new flagship

The Lotus Emira has received a refresh that also brings with it the new V6 SE to replace the existing V6 model. The firm has been at work on the suspension, tuning the dampers and tweaking the geometry for improvements to both ride and handling. Tour and Sport suspension options remain.

Standard trim has also be increased to include Alcantara trim, sports pedals, red brake calipers and the Black Pack. Customers can enhance the look of the car further with the Racing Line option, which adds a yellow, red or silver pinstripe with mirror casings to match. The number of exterior colour options has been increased to 15, while there are seven interior themes. There are now eight wheel designs to choose from, too, including the new Eos Green and Purple Haze.

The 3.5-litre Toyota V6 continues to produce 400bhp, but has also received some attention to offer what Lotus describes as “even more emotional engagement.” Other improvements include optimisation of the cooling and transmission, the latter introducing a new compression mount for the manual gearbox for more precise gearchanges. The automatic gearbox remains an option.

The V6 SE is priced from £96,500, increasing the gap between the six-cylinder model and the newly revised four-cylinder Emira Turbo, which starts from £79,500 and comes in below the Turbo SE.
